Not long after I joined Events United, I directed the video production of SoulFest, New England’s premier Christian music festival that has been drawing thousands of fans since the mid-90s.
Taking advantage of the long, narrow concert space of the Franklin County Fairgrounds, we designed a video experience that carried the energy of the show to the far reaches of the space, with two massive, thin screens on either side of the space.
I masked off the viewfinders of my camera operators to a narrow, iPhone-sized shape in the middle, and then we cropped the image to create giant, 40-foot versions of the artists on either side of the stage.
Switchfoot closed out the second night of the festival, and we flew a drone above the show to capture the energy of the crowd.
